Why Should I? “Attracted by the noble objectives”

By Jun 8, 2012No Comments

I am attracted by the noble objectives of this program in an effort towards creating better educational opportunities for the children of Malaysia. We aim to produce future leaders that are holistic in all aspects, but a glance at how our students are learning and performing in schools shows that the objectives of the National Education Philosophy of Malaysia have yet to be met.

Sadly,  all blames on this problem and the dismal development of our students have been directed towards our school teachers. I believe that this is not the case as there are so many other aspects contributing to students’ development, and teachers have in fact been relentlessly trying to impact their students as much as they could. However, one teacher alone cannot make that much of a difference by themselves.

Nonetheless, after being exposed to much research during my university years, and realising the strong support system in this Fellowship program, I strongly believe that together, we are able to set the platform for the children of Malaysia to develop in a holistic manner. I hope to join the others who are driven by this noble desire to help bring the much looked forward impact in classrooms through Teach for Malaysia.

As for today’s Why Should I? post, Alicia Jacob Matthew, our next 2013 Fellow with a Masters in Science Education with Information and Communications Technology from University of Malaya hopes to “join the others who are driven by this noble desire to help bring the much looked forward impact in classrooms through Teach for Malaysia.”
