Runners Profile
Chan Soon Seng
CEO, Teach For Malaysia
When I ran my first full marathon in KLSCM 2022, it made me reflect a lot on resilience needed to see changes in education. There are no quick fixes in education. It is the commitment to play the long-game, and to keep going (even when you feel like giving up) that makes a difference.
Loh Ken Ming
Director, Community Mobilisation
Teach For Malaysia
My name is Ken Ming and I believe that education is key to unlocking the potential of a nation. Being a father of two young children, I want a future where race, religion, family background, or even socioeconomic status does not determine your success because my children and any child throughout Malaysia will have access to an education that inspires and empowers them to create a better future world to live in. I hope that in whatever I do, i continue inspiring and working for the next generation.

Arif Iman Mahadzer
Hello, I am Arif! I’ve been teaching for a few years now and other than teaching, I love to run. The reason I intend to run for this organisation is because it resonates close to my heart and my beliefs. Teachers understand the power of role modelling behaviour for their students. By running for a cause, teachers exemplify the values of altruism, social responsibility, and civic engagement, teaching their students the importance of giving back and making a positive impact in the world. Running for charity under a teaching organisation provides a platform for teachers to address social issues that directly impact their students……
Lim Kean
My name is Lim Kean, and I am grateful for the exceptional primary and secondary education I received at Methodist Boys’ School Kuala Lumpur over 13 years, an experience that profoundly shaped my life. Yet, it saddens me to acknowledge that in today’s world, there are still children who lack access to education, the cornerstone of a brighter future. With this awareness in mind, I am compelled to contribute in my own modest way by participating in KLSCM 2024’s “Run For A Reason,” supporting the commendable endeavors of Teach For Malaysia to extend educational opportunities to those who need them most.

But I do realize and always let my kids know that not everyone has equal access to quality education due to various barriers such as financial constraints, lack of resources, or geographical location. this would be one of the opportunity for me to lead by example to my children that as as an individual we can do our part to give a little support to help remove these barriers and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to receive an education.
