{"id":5116,"date":"2017-08-30T08:27:42","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T08:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/teachformalaysia.org\/tiga-sahabat-buta-warna\/"},"modified":"2017-08-30T08:27:42","modified_gmt":"2017-08-30T08:27:42","slug":"tiga-sahabat-buta-warna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teachformalaysia.org\/my\/tiga-sahabat-buta-warna\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiga Sahabat Buta Warna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWe are Kok Hao, Isaac, and Shahril!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1742\" src=\"https:\/\/teachformalaysia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Project-ID-1-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"745\" height=\"494\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>At first, these three students were&#8230; not too fond of each other.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBefore joining Project ID (a student leadership development programme), we couldn\u2019t get along at all. We kept on fighting all the time.\u201d &#8211; Shahril<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe were worse than enemies.\u201d &#8211; Kok Hao<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe were always with our friends of the same race.\u201d &#8211; Isaac<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout the first year of the programme in their school, they could never agree on anything. Constant bickering between them plagued any assignment or project that was given.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Realising the problem that was brewing, the team tasked them to organise Project ID\u2019s 2014 closing event of the year &#8211; together.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI couldn\u2019t believe it at first. I kept asking myself \u2018Why do I have to work with these guys?\u2019\u201d &#8211; Kok Hao<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe thought that it was a big mistake putting us together and nothing was going to work.\u201d &#8211; Isaac<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reluctantly they agreed to work together after their friends stressed the importance of the event. Wary at first, they slowly realised through \u2018forced teamwork\u2019 that there were more similarities between them, than differences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAt that time, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tetibe<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> everything clicked <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We enjoyed working and playing together. We also worked together surprisingly well.\u201d &#8211; Kok Hao<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn the end, the event went well. After the event we forgave each other for everything that happened in the past and we just got along.\u201d &#8211; Shahril<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1743\" src=\"https:\/\/teachformalaysia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Project-ID-2-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"751\" height=\"498\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Ever since then, they have been inseparable both in and outside of school.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEver since Form 1, we always sit at the same table, and we slowly became more than friends actually &#8211; we were brothers.\u201d &#8211; Shahril<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnywhere we go, we go together. Any competition we do, we do it together. We always have each others\u2019 backs.\u201d &#8211; Kok Hao<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since Form 1 until now, the trio has gone through many activities and competitions together. Whether it\u2019s working together as a team or just helping each other out when they\u2019re in different groups, they\u2019ve always found a way to stay connected. From building a life-size cardboard <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sampan<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to solving a Physics challenge given by their teacher, they are always the first to volunteer for anything.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEveryone always says that we are the best team.\u201d &#8211; Isaac<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Beyond their friendship, they also empower those around them and of course &#8211; each other.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For one of the projects, Shahril was the group leader. Throughout the project he had the tendency to make decisions for the group by himself and wouldn\u2019t share his plans with anyone else. Although the group was dissatisfied, no one said anything. Seeing this, Kok Hao immediately stood up for the group and pointed it out to Shahril. Shocked at first, Shahril eventually accepted and learned from his mistake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen one of us does something wrong, we\u2019re not scared to stand up and let each other know. So we can help each other become better people.\u201d &#8211; Kok Hao<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although he is their teacher, Cikgu Chee Hoo has learned so much from them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWatching them grow up, I don\u2019t see the boundary of race. Teaching them has even made me forget that I am Chinese and instead, a Malaysian.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1744\" src=\"https:\/\/teachformalaysia.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Project-ID-3-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"757\" height=\"502\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Looking back to when they weren\u2019t friends, the kids laughed at how they acted towards each other.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe didn\u2019t know each other back then, we didn\u2019t understand each other.\u201d &#8211; Isaac<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt was the mindset we had. We always had this image, this stereotype about each other. But in the end, we are all the same.\u201d &#8211; Shahril<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>When asked if they had something to say to the rest of Malaysia, this is what they had to say:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTo everyone in Malaysia,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a lot of problems in our society. We are reaching the year 2020 and we should be focusing on the real challenges we face in our goal to achieve TN50.
